For every letter I send, I fund the planting of one tree through carefully chosen reforestation projects.
For every full year you are in the club, that becomes 12 trees planted in your name — a small forest growing quietly beside your collection.
I think of each letter as holding 3 archives:

- and a living forest taking root beside the work.

I’ve spent years in studios, at fairs and in collectors’ homes, watching how people actually live with art: how they hang it, how they talk to it, how it quietly changes them over time.
My work lives between old-master discipline and contemporary psychology. I care about light, composition, and line — and just as much about self-image, boundaries, memory, and the roles we move through as we love, protect, grieve, choose, and begin again.
The Portrait Letter Club is where that larger body of work becomes intimate. Once a month, I write to you from the studio and from life as I am living it too.

On 08 July, I sign, number, and mail your July edition from Germany. One tree is planted with every envelope.

Is this “JUST mail” or serious art?
Both. These are small works, but they are part of my real, ongoing studio practice — signed, numbered, archived, and limited.

Will the same print be reissued later?
No. The same portrait or motif may appear in larger works or future series, but the A6 club edition for that month remains exclusive and is not reprinted in the same form.

Where and when do you ship?
From Germany, worldwide. Shipping is included in your membership.
To receive the month's edition, join by the 1st of the month. Letters ship on the 8th of the month.
Is this only for people “who know about art”?
Is this connected to ‘mail art’?
No. If you love reflection, beauty, and the feeling of being taken seriously, you are ready. The letters are written in human language, not theory.
Yes. The project builds on the lineage of correspondence art and the long history of the postal system as an artistic medium. This is my contemporary, collectible interpretation of that tradition.

Do members get priority access to originals and commissions?
Members are the first to hear about new originals, print releases and portrait commission slots each year. If you already have a commission in mind, the Club places you at the front of the line with priority booking.
How many members will there be?
A maximum of 1,000 members worldwide. Once the club is full, new members will need to wait until a place opens.

DOES EACH LETTER PLANT A TREE?
Yes. For every envelope I send, one tree is planted through a chosen reforestation project. 12 months = 12 trees per member – a small forest growing quietly alongside this Club.
