The Atlanta Weiss Portrait Experience is a private commission process for collectors, founders, families, and individuals who want a portrait with presence.
A portrait that carries identity, legacy, memory, and the quiet authority of who they are becoming.
I begin by getting close to the person behind the portrait. Whenever possible, we meet in person. If distance makes that difficult, we speak by video and work with carefully chosen reference material.
A studio session in Cologne is often enough to find the expression, posture, and atmosphere I need.
From there, I create the portrait in my studio.
The process is calm, private, and deliberate. You are guided through the key decisions, while the artistic work remains in my hands.
Your name, image, story, and even the existence of your portrait are never shared without written consent.

03
A fully immersive portrait commission built around a person, a place, a family, or a meaningful life moment.
I travel to you, your home, your event, or a location connected to the story of the portrait. The experience can include an on-site session, private gathering, artistic direction, unveiling, white-glove delivery, and installation.
For collectors, families, founders, and patrons who want the portrait to become more than an artwork: a remembered moment, carefully held.
From €28,000
A portrait that honours your softness without diminishing your authority.
Discretion at the level of private banking, with the warmth of a conversation with friends.
Beauty without apology and the kind of detail your grandchildren return to for years.
Museum-grade craftsmanship, a private process and an unveiling you’ll actually remember.
An artwork that belongs in your home now and in your family story later.
The direction of the work begins before anything is drawn, photographed, or painted.
We speak about who the portrait is for, what it should hold, and where it will live. I listen for presence, not performance. For the visible details, but also for the quieter signals: posture, temperament, atmosphere, memory, and the part of a person that is difficult to explain.
From there, I gather what I need to create the portrait: a studio session in Cologne, carefully selected reference material, or a live conversation at your place.
The work then moves into the studio. Slowly. Privately. With attention to expression, composition, scale, material, and the feeling the finished piece should bring into the room.
Every portrait is created as an original work, not as a copy of a photograph.
I never share names, images, or even the existence of your portrait without written consent.
I never share any details of your commissioned portrait, including its existence, without your consent.
Online and offline confidentiality.
From concept to reference material to framing and delivery—handled calmly, professionally.
Every step is designed to feel effortless, so you can be fully present while we capture the story as it unfolds.
A handful per year—so the work stays uncompromising.
Having a limited number of commissions per year allows me to invest more time into creating heirloom pieces.
“The commissioned portrait by Atlanta is an exquisite addition to our collection."
Its aesthetics and depth surpass all art market trends and fashions.
— Jan & Emelie, Collectors
We define the subject, intention, medium, timeline, and level of experience.
This is where we speak about what the portrait should hold: identity, legacy, transition, family, authority, beauty, memory, or a private moment you do not want to lose.
If the commission feels aligned, you receive a private proposal.
We create or gather the visual foundation of the portrait.
This may include a studio session in Cologne, professional reference photographs, existing images, meaningful objects, clothing, setting, or a video conversation.
I then shape the artistic direction: composition, mood, scale, medium, and the feeling the finished work should carry.
The portrait enters the studio.
This is the quiet part. Weeks of focused work, slow decisions, corrections, looking, stepping away, returning, and building the image until it carries presence.
You receive considered updates at key moments, without turning the process into endless revision.
When the work is complete, the portrait is revealed as it is meant to be seen.
Framing, delivery, and installation are arranged according to the selected experience. The artwork can be unveiled privately in my studio, delivered to your home, or installed with white-glove care.
Private portrait commissions begin at €8,000.
We have a lot in common, you and I.
MY COLLECTORS VALUE THE FUTURE
AND RESPECT THE PAST.
They are the curious ones.
"I’ve spent my life handling objects with history; Atlanta created one. The drawing of my nephews is exquisite.”
“We came for a photograph and left with an heirloom. Atlanta made me feel myself — and somehow a little more iconic.”
From the first call to the final frame, every step felt calm, discreet, and beautifully directed. The piece now anchors our home and every conversation in it.
— Helena M., Private Collector
Atlanta is like a true artist-friend: sensitive with people, exacting with light, uncompromising with craft.
— Elias V., Antiquities Dealer
“We commissioned one portrait and immediately planned the next.
Her work has that rare thing: PRESENCE.”
The process was seamless and confidential, with the perfect balance of warmth and precision. Years from now, this will still feel timeless — and deeply ours. — Sofia & Daniel R., Family Collection
No. The At a Distance experience is designed for collectors worldwide. A portrait can be created from a combination of private consultation, strong reference photographs, existing material, and my own artistic direction. If needed, I can also guide you on how to create suitable reference images or recommend working with a professional photographer near you.
For the In Person and Full Experience options, we meet either in Cologne, at your location, or at another meaningful place agreed in advance.
The Portrait Experience is a private commission process with Atlanta Weiss, created for collectors, founders, families, and individuals who want more than a likeness.
It is a carefully guided process that begins with conversation, presence, reference material, and artistic direction. The final work is created to hold something deeper: identity, memory, legacy, transformation, authority, softness, or a moment in life that deserves to be kept.
Each portrait is made in Cologne, Germany, with museum-grade materials and a calm, confidential process from first conversation to final delivery.
This is for people who want a portrait with meaning, permanence, and presence.
Many collectors come at a turning point: a new chapter, a personal reinvention, a family moment, a professional milestone, a legacy decision, or a quiet wish to finally be seen as they are.
It is especially suited for private collectors, founders, female entrepreneurs, families, patrons, interior-conscious collectors, and people who want a work that belongs not only on the wall, but in the story of their life.
There are three ways to commission a portrait starting from 8,000 EUR:
At a Distance
Created in my Cologne studio with a lower-touch process. We work through a private consultation, curated reference material, and remote communication. This is ideal if you are outside Germany or prefer a discreet, streamlined commission process.
In Person
You and I meet in person. This includes a deeper live consultation, personal reference creation or direction, and an in-person unveiling. White-glove installation service is included where available and arranged as part of the experience.
The Full Experience
A fully immersive portrait commission. This may include travel, an on-site session, a private event, a location with personal meaning, in-person unveiling, white-glove delivery, and installation. This is the most complete and ceremonial version of the Portrait Experience.
Choose At a Distance if you want a private, elegant commission process without needing to meet in person.
Choose In Person if the personal meeting, live presence, and private unveiling matter to the experience.
Choose The Full Experience if the story around the portrait is part of the artwork itself: a family gathering, a meaningful place, a milestone event, a private home, a retreat, or a location that should become part of the memory.
You do not need to know immediately. The first consultation is there to understand what the portrait should hold and which experience fits best.
Each commission includes the artistic concept, consultation, reference direction, creation of the original artwork, artist time, materials, private communication, and the final portrait.
Depending on the experience selected, it may also include in-person meetings, travel planning, unveiling, delivery coordination, white-glove installation, and additional ceremony around the work.
Framing, special travel, complex installation, international shipping, insurance, customs, and unusual production requirements may be quoted separately when needed.
Yes, for the Full Experience.
This can include travel to your home, a meaningful family location, an event, a retreat, or another place connected to the story of the portrait.
Travel-based commissions are planned individually and require more preparation, so they are accepted selectively.
Yes. Privacy is part of the service.
I never share your name, image, home, story, process, or even the existence of the portrait without your written consent. This includes social media, website, newsletters, press, portfolio use, behind-the-scenes material, and studio documentation.
Some clients are excited for the work to be shown publicly. Others prefer complete confidentiality. Both are respected fully.
A photograph is not the final destination. It is only part of the reference material.
The artwork is built through my intuition, experience in reading atmosphere, faces, gesture and between the lines, and artistic interpretation.
In some cases. If the subject cannot be present, I can work from strong reference photographs, family material, stories, letters, objects, or other meaningful visual sources.
This can be especially relevant for family portraits, legacy commissions, or gifts. The more emotionally and visually rich the material, the stronger the work can become.
Yes, but with care. We will discuss whether it should be a surprise, a shared experience, or an invitation into the process.
A portrait is intimate. If the person will be the subject of the portrait, it is often best when they are involved in the process, unless the commission is clearly intended as a family legacy, memorial work, or symbolic gift.
A fine portrait usually takes 2–3 months At a Distance from confirmation to completion. A more complex portrait, large-scale work, travel-based commission, planning or full experience may take longer.
Because I only accept a small number of portrait commissions per year, it is best to inquire early, especially if the portrait is connected to a specific date, event, birthday, anniversary, exhibition, or family occasion.
A deposit is required to reserve the commission and begin the work. The remaining amount may be divided into agreed instalments connected to the timeline of the work.
The exact payment structure is included in your private proposal.
Begin by sending a private inquiry through the application form.
Share who the portrait is for, what you want the work to hold, where it may live, your preferred timeline, and which experience you are considering.
If the project feels aligned, I will invite you to a private consultation.
